Happy Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! We are half way through our trip to the lower 48. We have been to the Houston area and OKC, and leave for Tennessee today. The flight down was uneventful (that is all we are allowed to say :) and the boys have traveled very well so far. It will be another week before I post again from Alaska and fill everyone in on the details of our trip!

Brrrrr...

Slacker mom! I haven't uploaded any new pics to the computer (and I've been just a leeeeetle busy). It is Frosty, Chilly, COLD here. The temp. stayed around 10 degrees today. The kind of dry cold that makes you cough and freezes your nose. All of the trees are covered in frost, and stayed that way all day, even when the sun came out. It was so clear I could see the Alaska Range in the distance, which is awesome. They look huge, but I know they are a few hundred miles away. Imagine what they look like up close! We've been putting lots of lotion on little baby cheeks, and filling the humidifier like mad. So tomorrow we fly. I may have a post, but don't hold it against me if I don't :) For some reason, the boys just don't want to go to bed at night, and we haven't figured out what the new formula for it is. So, I think for now we give up. Like we are going to be in control with grandparents everywhere! I guess in about three weeks we will try again with putting them down in their cribs on their own. See some of you soon with some gorgeous babies!

Packing up!

Sorry for the lack of post yesterday, but Saturdays are busy! I must say I'm having one of those days where if ONE MORE THING goes wrong, I'm going to seriously explode. Plus, the packing has begun. We have set up the spare room as a staging area, and it already feels full (Rich and I haven't put any of our stuff in there yet :)
The video is from last night, the boys were supposed to be sleeping, sigh. There is really only so much constant crying a parent can take. I let them sit in the same crib for about 15 minutes, and then they fell asleep in their own.
Avery has a new trick this week. He sucks his thumb! Mostly when he's tired. It's just the cutest thing that I don't want him doing. How do you explain to an 8 month old that it's no good? I tried to include a pic, but the computer thinks it must go sideways. Not sure why. I'll send it with the rest of the pics. See some of you soon!

Our mismatched set

Check out my little monkeys! They are the most precious little people I know. I must say, you have no idea how hard it was to get this picture. I probably took ten to get a good one of both of them smiling AND looking at the camera at the same time.
I love it when we have them coordinating like this. We rarely dress them in the same outfit, but look at them, why would we? Everyday they underscore how different they are. They don't wear the same size clothes or diapers, never have. When we gave them baths last night, which we have started doing together, their little body types were so different. I know there is only a four pound difference, but on those little bodies, it is huge! Noah looks so slight next to Avery. There is the teeth and lack of, Noah getting ready to crawl, Avery not so much. Noah has the full head of hair, Avery has the little old man fringe at the back of his head. We can leave Noah sitting in one spot to play, while you never know were Avery is going to be (he rolls around everywhere, kind of like in the womb) Even their preference in snacks is different. Noah likes cereal puffs, Avery wants apples. They do both have blue eyes and the same parents, that's about it. I know they are twins, but they are so different, I almost think 'brothers' before I think 'twins'. Different, but I wouldn't have them any other way!

The score is...

Noah-0 Avery-6. Yes, that's right folks. Two more are pushing through on top for a total of 6 teeth. He may have a full set before Noah gets one, and he likes to bite. On the bright side, I'm pretty sure Noah is going to crawl first. So, he can just crawl away if in danger :)

Plus, you can't do this if you have teeth...

Brotherly joy!

Many people tell me, "I don't know how you do it with two." I always answer, "we don't know any better." Which is true. But look at them. they are so happy with each other. I don't know how others do it with only one. They miss out on this!

Snow for Kristen

This is for Kristen' who wished it would snow. Here in Alaska it did! We had big fluffy wonderful flakes for several hours yesterday. Unfortunately, it snowed ontop of some glassy sheets of ice from earlier in the day. You would be surprised how many people go off the road, like it doesn't do this every winter!

Our days here at the house are pretty much always the same. The boys play in a crib while I eat breakfast, although the crib seems to be getting smaller. Then we have floor time in their room or downstairs. Lately, it's harder to keep them entertained. Noah is on the verge of crawling (he get's so frustrated, but that's when we have progress. He didn't roll over until he got mad about crying it out in the crib), Avery has the roll-lurch down to propel himself forward, so laying the toys out on the blanket just doesn't work like it used to. They are very into discovery. The toys are better now if they can pull them out of the basket themselves. Also, if I step out of the room, I never know where I'm going to find them. Thank God for video monitors :) If I want to keep them put, I sit them up. Avery will only occasionally knock himself over to move around. Noah will only do it accidently. I'm very grateful they have each other for entertainment and not just me!

Our first video!

This is all new to me, so be patient. I'm adding my first video. It's about a month old, but I haven't downloaded the new ones off of the camera yet. Rich was having a tummy munching session with the boys. I can never seem to make them laugh like that. It was fun. They are so fun to be with everyday, and I am so lucky I get the chance. I wouldn't trade it for anything. Each day they have something funny and new for me. Rich and I are constantly amazed. We were comparing being a baby to physical therapy with Aliens. Imagine you have to learn how to sit up, crawl, walk, talk, everything! But your physical therapist doesn't speak your language. It astounds me!

Our very first blog!

Welcome to our very first blog! I thought this might work better than the website. I think it will have a better format and be easier to access. We'll see. The boys are so absolutely fun! They are both babbling, but Avery articulates more than Noah. He actually says A-ba-ba-ba, and Ma-ma-ma-ma. Too cute. Noah gets on his hands and knees and just rocks and rocks, which makes him mad because he makes no forward progress. He goes backwards and we find him under the ottoman, under the couch, under the changing table, in the closet. We gave them their first sitting up bath in the sink. It was fun! Dad overfilled the sinks, but that was the only issue we had. The shampoo visors were too cute! Their schedule is working pretty well, but they have decided they don't want to go to sleep at night anymore. I guess we are going to have to big meanies!
