Ah, the fabled big boy beds. OK, so first off, neither my husband nor myself have patience or self control. We bought these around Thanksgiving because they were both listed at the same time for a good price. Since the boys weren't climbing out of the cribs, we strapped them together and put them in the garage until February. Then we thought, we'll put them downstairs and let them see them and get used to them, but we won't bring them up. OK, we'll bring them up but not set them up. Blah, blah, blah. By that evening, they were set up and the cribs were taken down. Sigh.
The boys were very, very excited about their race car beds. (PLEASE, ignore the grungy windows! I have twenty chubby little fingers at that level.)
For the first couple of weeks it was hard with Noah (as those of you with Facebook know.) He would not stay in bed. He wandered, got into bed with Avery (who does not want anyone in his bed), brought Avery presents (who does not want presents), made excuses, etc!
We finally set the pack n play up in his room as a deterrent and a threat. A few nights (and nap times) he was plopped screaming into the p & p until he fell asleep. It's put away now, and he mostly stays in bed. Avery, for the most part, does not get out of bed after you put him down for the night. Noah still gets up some, and a few times we've found him sleeping on the floor, but it's working!
